Programme for Active Learning


Programme for Active Learning (PAL) is one of the recommendations of MOE’s Primary Education Review and Implementation (PERI) Committee to raise primary education to a new level. Targetted at  P1 and P2 levels, our young are equipped with the necessary skills and values to thrive in a fast-changing and globalised future. 

This year is our 6th year of implementation. The modules have evolved over the years but the focus of PAL i.e. the social and emotional aspect of learning has not changed. Students learn  to recognise and manage emotions, develop care and concern for others, make responsible decisions, establish positive relationships, and handle challenging situations effectively through PAL.

The talent-driven and values-oriented programme  consists of four categories:

Performing Arts (Dance)
Performing Arts (Speech & Drama)
Visual Arts
Sports & Games

Performing Arts (Dance)

Pupils enhance their rhythmic sense and express themselves creatively using their bodies in this module. They learn to appreciate music and dance and gain confidence  through dance performances.

Performing Arts (Speech & Drama)

Pupils learn to be confident and proactive in contributing ideas and gain a deeper understanding of different characters and situations through dramatization.  . They will develop empathy and interpersonal skills through their interactions with their friends.

Visual Arts

The elements of art are introduced with different themes. Pupils acquire visual arts skills such as cartooning, patterning, colour concepts, and craftwork. They work on their fine motor skills and learn to care and share with others.

Sports and Games 

A variety of sports-related games are conducted in which students will improve their eye-hand coordination, as well as develop body and spatial awareness. They will also learn the importance of teamwork and pick up good communication skills as they work in groups.


Through all these different platforms and activities, we aim to help students discover more about themselves and acquire sound values and skills so as to prepare them to become responsible adults and active citizens.
