Chinese Dance

The Chinese dancers in Wellington Primary School personify teamwork and motivation in their aspiration to bring their dancing talents to a higher level.

Our Chinese Dance team has a total of 41 girls from Primary 3 to Primary 6.

Weekly practices are conducted during CCA time every Tuesday from 7.45am to 9.45am, and an additional session on Wednesdays from 2.15pm to 4.15pm.

Chinese Dance practice sessions begin with a 20-minute warm up, which includes stretches, splits and bridges. After which, the instructor will train dancers on the specific movements of the choreography. They will then end off with dancing to music accompaniment.

Character development is infused into weekly training practices in which the teachers and instructors emphasize the importance of teamwork and resilience. Dancers are also encouraged to strive to do their best during the practice sessions.

We perform in several school celebrations annually, such as Chinese New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival and Prize Giving Day.

The dancers also participate actively in performances outside of school such as the Sembawang Zone K Chinese New Year Celebration 2017.

Our CCA group has been awarded Certificates of Distinction in the Singapore Youth Festival of Arts Presentation in 2012, 2014 and in the most recent 2016 event. This would not be possible without the indomitable attitude and unity  displayed by our Chinese dancers.

Through all these performances, our dancers have been able to showcase their talents – truly displaying their unwavering passion for dance.
