This is a non-SYF year for the Brass Band CCA. However, the Brass Band team is already practising vigorously for the coming SYF year in 2018. To boost our instrument prowess, Brass Band CCA has utilised a number of new equipment, including 4 new suitcases of instruments which we received in 2016 as part of our Replacement Grant and Augmentation Grant for Band.

Other than the usual CCA hours on Tuesday, 7.45 a.m. – 9.45 a.m., we have the additional practices in the afternoons on the same day 2.15 p.m. – 4.30 p.m. However, the Brass Band CCA emerged and became victorious against these hurdles.

Other than the learning of instrument technicalities, values on responsibility were also inculcated in the Band members as they have to take good care of the musical instruments, especially the expensive mouthpieces. The senior members are also empowered to guide and lead the junior members during sectional trainings.

An additional initiative which the brass band members have embarked on is to give insights on CCA blogs. Videos on different brass instruments were uploaded and the members would give comments on sound, tone, function and moods.

All this serves to ham up a holistic education for the pupils. Yeah!
